Deep work is a concept introduced by author and computer science professor Cal Newport in his 2016 book "Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World." The idea revolves around the practice of engaging in cognitively demanding tasks for extended periods of time with minimal distractions, allowing for maximum focus and productivity.

Deep breaks

Getting into the focused state where deep work can take place usually takes some time, so it is desirable to keep it going for as long as possible once getting there. So how does one take breaks without breaking focus and getting distracted?

Avoid turning your attention to things that might distract you such as social media or tasks that may require planning.
